Shankly Glenbuck Village Website
Shankly Glenbuck Village CIC is a heritage-led regeneration project working to rebuild Glenbuck, a lost Scottish mining village in East Ayrshire and the birthplace of Bill Shankly. More than fifty professional footballers came from the same few streets.
The organisation is led by Karen Gill, Shankly's granddaughter, alongside a board with backgrounds in construction, funding and operational delivery.
The long-term programme covers the restoration of Monkey Row, a museum and visitor centre, eco-accommodation, and a network of trails and activities. It is phased work, funded over time, and dependent on public support and grant funding rather than a single moment of investment.
Glenbuck is a place most people have never heard of, so the website had to explain the heritage, set out the plan credibly, and make donating the obvious next step.
The site opens with the story rather than the ask. A landscape hero places the viewer in Glenbuck immediately, with a two minute film of Karen Gill explaining why the village matters sitting alongside it. The heritage section that follows moves from coal to football in three short paragraphs, using an original illustration rather than stock imagery so the page feels made for this project and no other.
Below the story, the tone shifts to delivery. Planned facilities are set out as four clear commitments, and impact is split into economic, social and environmental outcomes so funders and community stakeholders can see the case laid out in the language they use. The leadership team is named and credentialed, which matters for a project asking the public for money. Built in Webflow, the trustees can update phases, team members and content themselves as the programme progresses.
